Funding

There are 2 main sources of funding for our project, both are crucial to the project success.

Community investment

Every community’s core investment is made up of shares, the value of which can be ring-fenced for supporting the build-out in their area.

Community investment

Every community’s core investment is made up of shares, the value of which can be ring-fenced for supporting the build-out in their area. For full details please see the shareholder prospectus on the Resources page.

Minimum shareholding £100 / maximum £100,000.
All shareholders are members of B4RN. One member one vote.
Shares must be held for a minimum of 3 years.
Investment in shares attract the current rate of 5% which can paid out or reinvested year on year.
Some shareholders choose to invest £1,500 and claim free connection worth £150.
Shares can only ever be sold back to B4RN at £1 each.

Free connection offer

With every £1,500 investment B4RN will waive a £150 connection fee. If you end up with more than 1 then you can allocate them to others.

Voucher scheme

B4RN are a registered supplier on the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, which is part of the Local Full Fibre Networks Programme. This is a Government fund set up to help locally led projects across the UK leverage local and commercial investment in full fibre, which is the “gold standard” for fast and reliable broadband. It is aimed at helping local businesses and residencies to upgrade their internet to 1000 Mbps/1 Gbps.

Vouchers are allocated per connection. B4RN will apply for a voucher on your behalf when you register with B4RN for a connection. They will guide you through the process of activating your voucher which involves responding to some emails from the scheme to confirm you want a connection from B4RN, and if you're registering as a business, you will need to supply proof.

Through the voucher scheme, B4RN will pass on a part of the funding to you to cover the final bit of the connection to and into your property. This will allow you to pay contractors if necessary, or of course you can install it yourself and keep the funding. More details on installing the last leg can be found here
